Tin Ceiling Finishes Classic Ceilings offers the following finishes to give you a wide range of variety when it comes to designing the perfect tin ceiling project: We've tried to represent the finishes as best as we can but please remember due to different computer and monitor configurations online colors may slightly differ from the actual colors. We invite you to purchase six inch samples for an accurate representation of the finishes. In addition to the finishes we offer, we also offer custom powder coated color matching. To inquire further please contact us. Tin finish items are manufactured from 30 gauge (.010) tin-free steel, which is chromium treated for good paint retention. All finishes except tin (unfinished steel) do not require any treatment and are ready for installation. Unfinished steel (tin) needs to be treated with an oil based paint. For best results use a semi-gloss or high-gloss paint to prevent rusting or tarnishing. Although a primer is not required for most environments, we do recommend its application prior to painting in places exposed to heat, humidity, condensation or other moisture where corrosion may be a concern. To leave tin finished items in natural state, use clear glossy enamel by Rust-Oleum. Please note, raw steel (tin) by its very nature can be prone to shade variances. If painted properly using a high gloss or semi gloss oil based paint, or a clear gloss polyurethane to finish the product in its natural state, the panels can easily last a lifetime. Water based or latex paints cannot be used, as they will induce corrosion. Lacquered steel is pretreated with polyurthane to prevent rusting and tarnishing and therefore does not require any treatment and is ready for installation. Treatment is only on face. If required, backside can be treated as well for an additional cost. Pre-painted white is powder coated in semi-gloss white to protected against rusting. Our stainless steel products are manufactured from 26 gauge stainless steel and are an excellent finish for backsplashes as they will not rust upon exposure to moisture and are very easy to clean with a damp cloth. Galvanized steel is made of 24 gauge electro-galvanized steel and zinc-coated. This finish is only available in DE-ME Snap panels. All other DE-ME Snap finishes are plated or powder coated on the same 24 gauge electro-galvanized zinc-coated steel. Solid copper is plated from 100% pure copper sheets. The copper is naturally soft and is prone to scratching. An advantage of solid copper is it will patina over time. It's a perfect choice for customers looking for a unique natural product. Solid copper is limited in supply and a lead time of 8 or more weeks may be required. Acoustic Tin (Perforated Steel) Acoustic tin is perforated steel that assists in noise reduction when installed with encapsulated fiberglass padding. When backed by the fiberglass pads the panels offer a noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 0.8. Acoustic tin is an option available on select panels and can be combined with any of our custom antique plated or powder coated color finishes. Raw steel acoustic tin requires treatment with an oil based paint or, to finish the product in its natural state, a clear gloss polyurethane. Please note, in its natural state raw perforated steel can be prone to shade variances.
Plated finishes are electroplated and baked with a clear enamel. This technique assures a very durable finish that will last a lifetime. We offer both aluminum plated panels and steel plated panels. Both steel plated and aluminum plated are excellent options for high moisture areas. Wood grain finishes are a unique and exclusive tin ceiling finish of wood grain laminates onto our standard high quality steel tin ceiling tiles. This assures a very durable finish while providing a unique embossed woodwork looking ceiling. Wood grain finishes are custom ordered and require a 5 week lead time. At this time wood grain is not available for cornices or moldings and is only available on our regular panels.
Our exclusive antique plated finishes are a multi-step hand crafted plating process leading to a unique two tone finish. The finishes are great for those who prefer subtle variances to create a captivating and highly admirable tin ceiling. As a result of the hand process and two tone nature there will be slight variances in shade. Our embossed designs are from the original tin ceiling die casts and antique plated panels sometimes show the minor imperfections of these original casts. In addition, due to the multi-step process the back of the panels will have a red to orange burn appearance to them (as seen in the image to the right). Antique plated finishes are custom ordered and require a 4-6 weeks lead time. Whites

Our color finishes are powder coated to provide an excellent and durable tough resilient color finish. We offer our powder coated color finish in over 30 different colors with a single side coating or a double side coating. We recommend a double side coating, where both the back and front of the panel will be coated in the color of your choice - this eliminates the need to clear coat the back of the panel to prevent rusting from the back side. A single side coat will only have the front side coated and will leave the back exposed (as shown in the image to the right). Please note, textured powder coated finishes can vary in shade and texture pattern size from batch to batch or from samples received. This variance is considered normal within powder coating standards and can not be avoided. Orders are powder coated once placed. Lead time is 3-4 weeks. Powder coated orders under a subtotal of $1500 incur a surcharge set up fee of $100 and orders under $250 will incur a set up fee of $150. |
